Since 2010, Brian has been the owner of the Hotel Pueblito Playa. Brian originally left the U.K. in 1978 to start a high class food and catering business in Monte Carlo in the Principality of Monaco. He lived there for 35 years where he looked after and served some of the wealthiest and most famous people in the world. He was granted Official Supplier to the Palace of Monaco and in 2000 was honoured by Prince Rainer with Monaco´s highest award, Chevalier de l´Òrdre de Saint Charles. In his spare time he also studied tigers in India and Nepal.
He met his Colombian wife Esther in 2002 on a fishing trip to Costa Rica. She introduced him to Colombia, where he fell in love with the country, its people and her, so looking for a new adventure he decided to retire here. But his idea of retirement meant buying and running a small hotel. Having lived all his life by the sea, Cartagena was the obvious choice.
Brian is passionate about food and his hotel and prepares breakfast for his guests every day. “Not only do I want to offer the best breakfast in Cartagena, it is also my daily opportunity to meet and talk with our clients." The hotel is also home for him and his wife plus a couple of cats and dogs, all rescued from the streets of Cartagena.
“Coming to live in Colombia was a big decision, but I have no regrets. And the secret of Colombia? Without doubt the people”.
